Typing Speed Test
About the Typing Speed Test
The Typing Speed Test on Toolzylo measures how fast and accurately you can type. You have 60 seconds to type a randomly selected paragraph as accurately as possible. Your results are shown in real time — correctly typed characters appear in green, mistakes appear in red, and your WPM and accuracy update as you type.
WPM (Words Per Minute) is the standard measure of typing speed. It is calculated by dividing the number of correctly typed characters by 5 (the average word length in English), then dividing by the elapsed time in minutes. This gives a fair comparison regardless of word length variation in the test paragraph.
Accuracy is the percentage of correctly typed characters out of all characters you have typed. A high WPM with low accuracy is less useful than a moderate WPM with near-perfect accuracy — most professional typing benchmarks consider both metrics together.
Regular typing practice can significantly improve your speed and accuracy. Touch typists — those who type without looking at the keyboard — consistently outperform hunt-and-peck typists. Use this tool daily to track your progress over time.
The test runs entirely in your browser. No text is sent to any server, and no account is required. It works on all modern browsers and is fully optimised for desktop use.
